Dubai authorities arrested 41 individuals of Arab nationality involved in organised begging activities. The suspects, who had entered the UAE on visit visas, were staying in a hotel that served as their base of operations.
The arrests were made during Operation Al-Misbah, launched after a report was received via the 901 call centre about individuals begging while selling prayer beads and accessories. More than Dh60,000 in cash was recovered from the group.
Dubai Police continue to crack down on illegal begging and urge the public to report such activities.
