Arshad Nadeem, Yasir Sultan Reach Javelin Final at Asian Athletics Championships 2025

Gumi, South Korea – May 30, 2025 – Pakistan’s Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem and rising star Yasir Sultan have qualified for the javelin throw final at the ongoing 2025 Asian Athletics Championships. Arshad led Group A with a stellar 86.34m throw, while Yasir advanced from Group B with 76.70m.
This marks Arshad’s first major competition since his historic Olympic gold medal win in Paris 2024, where he set a national record of 92.97m. The final is scheduled for 1:10pm Pakistan time on May 31.
Pakistan’s five-member squad also includes Shajar Abbas and Mueed Baloch in the 400m sprint, and Tameen Khan in the women’s 100m — highlighting the growing talent in national athletics.
Earlier this week, Arshad was honored with the Best Asian Athlete Award for his contributions to regional athletics.
Pakistan has won 8 medals so far in Asian Athletics Championships history — 2 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze — and hopes are high for more podium finishes this year.
