Riyadh \u2013 <\/strong>Saudi authorities detained 12,129 individuals last week in a sweeping national campaign targeting violations of residency, labour, and border security regulations, the Ministry of Interior announced.<\/p>\n

\n

Mass Arrests Across the Kingdom<\/strong>
The arrests took place during coordinated field operations conducted in all regions between May 22 and May 28, 2025<\/strong>. Authorities confirmed the following breakdown:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • \n

    7,127<\/strong> for violating residency laws<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    3,441<\/strong> for border security offenses<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    1,561<\/strong> for labour regulation violations<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    In addition, 1,197 people<\/strong> were intercepted while attempting to illegally enter the Kingdom<\/strong>, primarily of Ethiopian (63%) and Yemeni (34%)<\/strong> origin.<\/p>\n

    Another 90 individuals<\/strong> were caught trying to exit the country through unauthorized routes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    \n

    Crackdown on Facilitators<\/strong>
    The Ministry also arrested 18 individuals<\/strong> for facilitating illegal residency or employment, including through transport, harboring, or hiring<\/strong> undocumented individuals. These offenses carry severe punishments under Saudi law:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • \n

      Up to 15 years in prison<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Fines of up to SR 1 million<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Confiscation<\/strong> of vehicles and property used in committing the crimes<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      \n

      Legal Processing and Deportations<\/strong>
      Authorities reported that:<\/p>\n

        \n
      • \n

        19,238 violators<\/strong> are currently undergoing legal procedures<\/p>\n

          \n
        • \n

          17,930 men<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        • \n

          1,308 women<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n

        • \n

          14,065<\/strong> have been referred to diplomatic missions for travel documents<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        • \n

          1,533<\/strong> are finalizing travel arrangements<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

        • \n

          11,094<\/strong> have already been deported<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Ongoing National Campaign<\/strong>
          The Interior Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing immigration and labor laws, warning that individuals or organizations aiding violators<\/strong> will face serious legal consequences.
