Ras Al Khaimah – Seven individuals of various nationalities have been referred to the Public Prosecution for sharing misleading and false content on social media, the Ras Al Khaimah Police confirmed. The material was found to disturb public opinion and threaten social stability.

Online Activity Under Scrutiny
The suspects were arrested following a months-long investigation by the General Department of Electronic Investigations, which monitored their online behavior since early 2025.

Authorities say the individuals published:

  • Video clips and written posts containing misinformation

  • Exaggerated commentary on local social issues

  • Unverified claims about sensitive matters affecting the public

The content, circulated across several digital platforms, was deemed to undermine public confidence and disrupt social cohesion.

Violation of Legal Standards
Police stated that the content shared by the accused clearly violated UAE’s cybercrime and public safety laws. Officials stressed that such online behavior not only spreads panic and confusion but also poses a threat to societal order.

How Authorities Responded
According to Ras Al Khaimah Police:

  • Electronic surveillance tools and community reports helped identify the suspects

  • Specialised teams tracked social media accounts, gathered digital evidence, and initiated action

Warning to the Public
The police have urged social media users to exercise responsibility and caution, reminding residents that spreading false information—intentionally or otherwise—can result in severe legal consequences.

The case has now been handed over to the Public Prosecution for further legal proceedings.
